THE LAKE

Lake Charles is a 130 acres spring-fed fresh water lake in the heart of the township of Georgian Bluffs. The dominant geological feature of the area is the Niagara Escarpment which can be best explored along The Bruce Trail, which can be accessed just north of the farm.

FOREST, FLORA & FAUNA

Lake Charles Farm features approximately 50 acres of Georgian Bluffs Upland Forest, populated mostly with Sugar Maple with many limestone outcroppings of the Niagara Escarpment. The property is home to dozens of varieties of ferns, wild leeks (ramps), ginger and a number of unique escarpment wildflowers (trillium, blue flag iris, dog tooth lily, and orchids) and morels.

 

100 acres of workable land is currently rented to a local sheep farmer.  The Lake Charles Farm has numerous outbuildings and a 60 x 150 foot Barn for storage of hay and equipment.
